FOUR fire and rescue crews were called to save a horse that was trapped in a river between St Austell and Fowey this afternoon.
One fire appliance from Fowey, one fire appliance from St Austell, a specialist water rescue team from St Austell and a specialist line rescue team from Bodmin attended the incident at Tywardreath Marsh in Tywardreath just before 5pm.
Firefighters wearing drysuits took almost an hour to release the horse from the river. The animal was then led to safety and left in care of the owner and a vet.
At the same time, firefighters from Delabole Community Fire Station helped release a lamb that was trapped between a fence and a mud bank on the B3314 road to Port Isaac.
