Caerhays Castle and Porthluney Beach, on Cornwall's south coast, formed a perfect backdrop for the final meet of the season of the Four Burrow Hunt on Saturday.
More than 80 mounted followers turned out for the event and were greeted with a traditional stirrup cup, and a large crowd of foot followers.
Joint Master Tony Blumenau thanked the Will-iams family for hosting the occasion, and welcomed visitors from several other packs of hounds who had turned out for the special occasion.
"I'd like to thank farmers and landowners for their support and tolerance in a season that has been notably wet," he said.
Instead of the usual scarlet or black jackets, because it is April the mounted followers wore a form of dress called "rat-catcher" – tweed jackets and fawn breeches. Then the hunt moved off in the sunshine, led by Joint Master and huntsman Paul Hancock with the hounds, to follow a series of draglines that had been laid across the countryside.
