Fire fighters were called to a property in West Looe this afternoon after smoke was seen from the top of a chimney – although the occupant had not lit a fire in the grate since Sunday.
A total of seven fire fighters were called to the property in West Looe Hill at just before noon.
On their arrival the crews investigated the chimney and found a slow burning fire in a timber beam of the property.
The fire fighters used chimney gear and small tools to make a hole in the wall of the house to access the rear of the chimney lintel and expose the seat of the fire.
Once the rear of the beam had been exposed crews extinguished the fire using a stirrup pump.
