A much-needed footbridge is to span the A38 in Cornwall as part of a £1.5 million project.
The bridge is planned for the Plymouth side of the Carkeel roundabout, at Saltash, to provide access to the Tamar View industrial estate. Road improvements are also planned to improve traffic flow in the busy summer months.
South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray said: "To many the road has just been too dangerous, forcing people into their cars to travel what could be a very short journey which could be easily walked but for this barrier.
"This is an improvement which has been desperately needed and I have been in discussion with the Highways Agency about this bridge since I was elected. I am really pleased that this bridge has now been secured."
The project, which will be the subject of consultation, is due for completion by March 2015.
