A PUBLIC meeting to discuss housing, Treswithian junction upgrade, homelessness and Camborne Community Centre takes place on Friday. It is organised by campaign group Trelawney Alliance at the community centre starting at 7.45pm. All prospective town and county councillors and MP George Eustice have been invited to present their policies and take questions from the public. Trelawney Alliance chairman Jean Charman said: "One important issue that needs to be clarified is how to fund and provide affordable and social housing for local people. "We need representatives that will respect, and act upon your views - and not totally disregard them as was the case with the Treswithian Junction when in August 2010 Trelawney Alliance held a public meeting, which our MP and many of our councillors attended. "All 200 of those present voted against the proposed changes even our MP stated that of all the junctions along the A30, Treswithian was working the best. So why did Cornwall Councillors then go on to vote in favour of it at the council's planning meeting? "We need councillors who are prepared to listen to members of the public and represent their views rather than slavishly follow the advice of planning officers who appear to care very little about our environment."
