The illustrious career of Stewart Yetton at Truro City looks to have come to a sad end following a training ground incident last night.

The striker  and fans' favourite, who has  scored a record-breaking 226 goals in 315 appearances, has been suspended by the club with "immediate effect" following the incident which  has left defender Ben Gerring, I understand,   with a broken jaw and in hospital awaiting an operation

A statement issued tonight from chairman Pete Masters read: "Following an internal incident it has been necessary to suspend Stewart Yetton with immediate effect.

"Given that there are only three games remaining, regretfully Stewart has played his last game for Truro City. Also Ben Gerring has sustained an injury and is unavailable tomorrow."

It is a bitterly disappointing end for a player who has  always delivered for the club, helping them to an FA Vase win at Wembley in 2007 and also five promotions in six seasons and has scored in his last three games after being out for more than five months with a knee injury.

Yetton, who is rumoured to be possibly moving to Weymouth in the summer, has been a tremendous servant to the club, but Thursday night's incident at training seems to have left the club with little alternative.

Tomorrow, already relegated City play their final home Blue Square South game of the season against Farnborough (3pm).

Its never dull at Treyew Road that's  for sure.
