NEARLY 200 people questioned prospective Cornwall Councillors on their policies in Camborne last night.
The meeting, held at Camborne Community Centre, started with a robust debate over the number of homeless people living in the Camborne area.
Jean Charman, the chairman of Trelawney Alliance which organised the evening, said the group was anxious to hear how local people viewed the situation.
Following a debate it was decided to contact Coastline New Connections to arrange a meeting to discuss the matter further
Camborne, Pool and Redruth MP George Eustice entered the meeting at 8.30pm at which time the debate returned to the first agenda item which was the proposed development at Trewithian, Penponds and Park Holly.
There were a large number of residents from these areas at present.
Mrs Charman continued: "Most of them wanted a confirmation that Mr Eustice would be supporting building on brownfield sites and not greenfield.
"He was very supportive agreeing that he did not consider the alterations at the Treswithian junction at all necessary and agreed he would not support any development in this area."
Housing also triggered a very lively debate.
Stuart Cullimore spoke eloquently on, what he considered, the dismal failure of Cornwall planners to protect the Cornish countryside from developers.
He also raised concerns over developers cherry picking sites for development before the local plan was put in place.
