NEWQUAY'S urban music star has thanked the people of Cornwall for getting her through to the next round of the X Factor finals – and the Cornish Guardian is calling on her county to keep voting.
The public voted to put Lotte Rundle and Simeon Dixon of MK1 through to the next stage of the competition.
They are now one of 11 acts left in the contest out of thousands.
Lotte, known as Charlie on stage, told her dad, Daniel, to thank everyone who had supported her so far.
"She said, 'I must thank everybody who has supported me to get through the first live show'," he said.
"She said until it happens you do not know how popular you are."
On Saturday night the duo, mentored by Louis Walsh, performed a rendition of Chipmunk's Champion 'mashed up' with Everyone's A Winner by Hot Chocolate.
Nicole Scherzinger said after their performance that they were the most "relevant" act in the competition while Tulisa said on the Xtra Factor that MK1 are the "dark horse" to win.
Lotte and Simeon, who are living alongside the other 11 acts in London, will be rehearsing all week ready for tomorrow's show where the theme is thought to be love and relationships.
The act that receives the least votes will leave the competition on Sunday. This newspaper is calling on everyone to vote for MK1 to ensure they get through.
The 19-year-old's parents, Daniel and Debbie, attended both live shows on Saturday and Sunday at the Fountain Studios in Wembley and took three of Lotte's friends from Newquay and two from London along with them.
Daniel said the atmosphere in the arena was "very tense".
"I really enjoyed it," he said. "Debbie could not relax at all, she was just thinking about who was going to get voted off."
He added: "Lotte is in her element. She said there were no nerves between them; they just want to perform. They enjoyed the choreography.
"She was whisked off after the show and that was it."
Daniel said Lotte said "everyone feels it" when acts leave the show.
"They meet each other at breakfast time and become friends," he said.
Lotte performed throughout Cornwall before moving to London 18 months ago to pursue her musical career.
