WOMEN from across Cornwall are being invited to take part in the Ladies Driving Challenge at RAF Portreath later in the year. The event offers participants the chance to get behind the wheel of a whole collection of vehicles ranging from double-decker buses to fire engines. It costs £10 to enter and every entrant is asked to raise £100 in sponsorship. New to the challenge this year is a stretch limousine. Marie Curie regional events manager Jon Duckham said: "This is the first time we have ever had a stretch limo join the wide array of vehicles on offer for ladies to drive as part of the event. "It is a real challenge to drive and very different from an average car." The Ladies Driving Challenge has been running for many years to raise money for the Marie Curie Nursing service in Cornwall. "Participants will be instructed in safe car handling as well as tips on good driving but also entrants will be put through a specially designed course that will be fun as well as testing car handling skills," said Mr Duckham. Krystal Limousines of Redruth has some of the longest stretch limousines in the UK, with its "Mega Car" offering a spec of 16 seats, ten TV screens and colour changing floor. The Ladies Driving Challenge takes place on September 15. For an entry form ring 01884 70 3536 or visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/events
