In the latest twist in the ongoing saga of Truro City's difficult financial situation, rival team Eastleigh have stepped in to offer the club the gate takings from next week's Eastleigh vs Truro game.
In a posting on the discussion forum of the Eastleigh FC website, the user 'Chandler', a pseudonym for an Eastleigh insider, said:
"We have offered Truro the gate receipts for next Saturdays home game if it helps them - fellow club etc!"
The unofficial Truro Fans blog responded with gratitude, saying:
"Eastleigh however have once again shown what a great club they are, in a timely reminder that the Corinthian spirit is still alive in the lower leagues, on this Non-League weekend..."
In the meantime, Truro City have been given an extra week to find the £50,000 bond they need to lodge with the Football Conference in order to be able to continue their membership.
Truro play Eastleigh at Silverlake Stadium next Saturday 20 October, with a 3pm kick-off.
