The first yacht in the Sailtica race has landed in Fowey after completing a 44-hour journey from Pornichet in France.
The yacht, Canhabaque, and her four crewmembers were given a heroes welcome by the Fowey locals, who are pulling out all the stops for the long anticipated visit of around 120 Frenchmen and women aboard 20 yachts competing in the 500-mile Sailtica race.
A cannon was fired to signal the first yacht crossing the line in Fowey.
The crews of the various yachts will be spending the days until they embark on Thursday, May 9, getting to know their Fowey hosts and undertaking a number of activities aimed at building ties between the Cornish town and South Brittany's, Pornichet.
