Two Fowey students will be facing their fears in an effort to raise vital funds for a once in a lifetime trip to Cambodia.
Carys Hill and Izzy Sutcliffe, both 15, will be hoping to cast aside all thoughts of a fear of heights when, decked out in their finest fancy dress monkey costumes donated by Make Believe in St Austell, they take on the zipwire at Adrenalin Quarry, Liskeard.
The girls will leap from a 50ft high clifftop and rush at speeds of up to 40mph in their adrenalin fuelled challenge, but, while many think they might be bananas for taking it on, the girls know the end result of time spent helping communities in Cambodia will be well worth it.
Carys Hill said: "In the summer of 2014 we hope to travel to Cambodia with Camps International to volunteer with communities out there for a month and work on a number of social and environmental projects."
During the trip the girls will take part in such important tasks as; re-forestation, building schools, teaching local children and volunteering in orphanages.
"These are amazing, unique, once in a lifetime opportunities that will build and develop us as people, and help the wonderful communities of Cambodia," added Carys, "To attend the trip we have to raise £3,480 minimum each, so as I'm sure you can imagine, fundraising is vital."
The Fowey students are asking for people to help them along the way by sponsoring them in their zipwire challenge and in their efforts to make dreams of Cambodia a reality.
Donations can be made at www.gofundme.com/helpandheal while more can be found on the trip itself at the girl's own website – www.helpandheal.wordpress.com.
