A man from Leeds will be travelling to Wadebridge later this month to raise money in memory in Trevor Grills, the Fisherman's Friends singer who was tragically killed last February. Tony McDonnell is the brother of Fisherman's Friends singer John McDonnell, and has planned a double challenge to help raise money for three good causes. On May 24, he will be doing a 100-mile walk from Wadebridge to Teignmouth in Devon. He will follow it with a tandem skydive in August in a bid to raise cash for three charities including the Brandon Trust, which supports people with learning disabilities across the South West. Trevor Grills was an ambassador for the Brandon Trust before his death and had established many positive links with the charity, including holding a fundraising concert in Port Isaac last summer. He died after an accident at a concert venue in Guildford, Surrey, where he had been due to perform with the Fisherman's Friends. The accident also caused the death of the band's tour manager, Paul McMullen. Mr McDonnell, aged 51, said: "Since the tragic events, I am hoping to raise funds for Brandon Trust. " I asked my brother if he wanted to raise money for the two families, but obviously Brandon Trust was one of the nominated charities. "I'm not sure which I am dreading the most, the 48-hour walk or jumping out a perfectly good aircraft. I will find it very challenging indeed,'' he said.
