Truro's food festival has got off to a delicious start today on Lemon Quay.
The Big Produce Market, which will run today and tomorrow on Lemon Quay in Truro, is showcasing Cornwall's best food and drink products alongside cooking demonstrations from a Michelin-starred chef.
The event is raising the profile of fifty small Cornish companies who source local ingredients to create fresh products with low travel-miles and great taste.
Organiser and premium pork producer Bill Lugg said: "We want to showcase the small artisan producers in Cornwall. This food festival is non-profit making and is supported and sponsored by Truro Farmers Market Group."
Following the recent horse-meat scandal, the significance of what goes in to our food products and where they come from has increased in the minds of the public.
Heather Bell, from Heather Bell Honey said: "These markets are incredibly important. People want to buy food which they know where it comes from."
The market has a wide variety of products on display ranging from fair trade chocolate and home-made honey to freshly caught fish and Cornish grown wine.
Pat Saunders, a local shopper said: "We enjoy local food. It is good to see things like veal which you don't see in supermarkets."
Cooking demonstrations will also be taking place throughout both days from chefs Paul Wadham, Tom Scade and Michelin-starred Chris Eden amongst others.
Truro's Big Markets will be open between 9-4 today and tomorrow.
