A Crowlas woman has left more than £71,000 to the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
The late Olga Robinson left the bequest in her will, to be used by the BHF in its fight against coronary heart disease.
Mrs Robinson's friend Shirley Tompkins acted as executor and handed over a cheque for £71,122.50 to Bill Jones, chairman of the local Penzance and District Branch of the BHF.
Mr Jones said he was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of the charity and thanked Shirley for her work.
He said: "Thanks to the generous donation from Mrs Robinson and the many other supporters across the UK, the BHF has invested more than £88 million in research in 2011. They are funding hundreds of researchers on around 1,200 projects. All aim to find new, better treatments for people with heart and circulatory disease, or develop new ways to better prevent or diagnose it."
Mrs Robinson also left the same amount to Cornwall Hospice Care, which runs St Julia's Hospice at Hayle.
