A man in his early twenties has died in a car crash on the A393 at Lanner, Redruth.
The man was driving a grey Honda Civic when the accident happened shortly before 10.15pm last night. Despite attempts by paramedics he died at the scene.
He was the sole occupant of the car and no other vehicles were involved.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service was also called to the accident.
The man's next of kin have been informed.
An investigation has been launched and the police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The road was closed following the accident but it has now reopened.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle being driven prior to the accident is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 and quote incident number 798.
