THE WORLD'S Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research went down a storm at Newquay's Headland Hotel last week – when even a 105-year-old couldn't resist the sweet temptation.
Charity supporters flooded into the resort on Friday to tuck into the fresh cakes donated by Niles Bakery and sup on coffee from The Cornish Coffee Company – raising £104 which was then matched by the hotel to make £208.
Guests also enjoyed an exclusive tour of the new 'Wellness Area' and the undergoing developments for the new Headland Spa, due to be unveiled in spring 2013.
Irene Knight, eldest guest on the day at 105 years of age, was drawn as the lucky winner of the raffled full afternoon tea for two at the Headland.
The Headland's Wenny Armstrong said: "We were delighted by the local support that we received, everyone really enjoyed it."
Dales Suzuki at Summercourt also took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of the charity. Staff, customers and friends raised £200.
There was a fantastic selection of home-made cakes and a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses. Sara Cadge, director, said: "We had a great time and were delighted to support Macmillan."
