A secret garden near Liskeard is welcoming visitors on Sunday May 19 as part Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Open Gardens Scheme. Described as a tardis garden, Ken-Caro in Bicton, will be open between 10am to 5pm. Organisers of the event said although the Ken-Caro is only four acres in size, it creates a miraculous sense of spacious beauty, seeming much larger than it actually is. Set high above Bicton Manor Woods, Ken-Caro has been planted by Mrs Willcock and her husband Kenneth - a garden enthusiast and horticultural columnist. The creation of Ken-Caro began in 1970, and planting originally focused on vegetables and fruit, including a large rhubarb bed. In 1994 the vegetable garden was transformed into a secret garden and since then, many new areas have been planted and new features added. Its extension and development is ongoing, but the horticultural hotspot is particularly well known for its endless exhibition of radiant colours throughout every season. Admission costs £5 for adults and is free for under 15s. For information on all Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Open Garden events visit www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/opendgarden
