Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a safe was stolen from a Camelford garage.
The theft took place at around 4.30am on Sunday at the Camelot Garage at Valley Truckle, where the office was forced open and a safe stolen from the wall.
After a local man spotted two men in a field trying to open a safe, the men fled in a blue Ford Mondeo at about 8.30am.
The police located and then pursued the car out of St Breward and onto the A30.
A short time later the vehicle was found abandoned in Polyphant near Launceston and two men who were located nearby were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The men, both 37 from Bude, have been released on police bail until 29 November 2012 while officers carry out further enquiries.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen any suspicious men around the times reported or a blue Mondeo car around the North Cornwall area over the weekend of 6 to 7th October.
Police are also asking anyone to come forward who may have witnessed the pursuit or saw the men discard anything from the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote reference BC/12/398.
