GIANT vibrant silk flags depicting the lives of Perranporth people made by local school children have been raised at Seiners on Perranporth beach.
Pupils from schools in Perranporth, Mithian and Goonhavern worked with professional flag designer Lucy Birbeck to produce the flags.
Staff and students from Falmouth University also joined the project, spearheaded by Perranporth art teacher Ellie Smitheram, to make 12 flags to be placed at various spots around the resort.
The designs were inspired by local poet and Kneehigh Theatre's Anna Maria Murphy's Perranporth Stories, depicting the true lives of local people.
It is also planned to install plaques explaining the group behind the design with QR codes (a computer bar code) that will link to a website using a smartphone describing the project.
Sue Loydell, Curriculum Outreach Coordinator at Falmouth University said: "We've seen some really talented young artists with huge potential making vibrant and colourful flags that tell their community's story."
Ellie Smitheram said the children had worked hard on the designs with many reproduced on postcards being sold locally to raise funds for Perranporth School's £100,000 outdoor pool renovation project.
