VOLUNTEER Cornwall is on the lookout for the county's most outstanding volunteers.
Dubbed the 'Volunteer Oscars', the event recognises the achievements of Cornwall's estimated 140,000-strong army of volunteers.
Nominations can be made up until September 13 and the awards will be presented at a ceremony in November at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay with Col Edward Bolitho, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, giving out the prizes.
Ian Jones, chief executive of Volunteer Cornwall, said: "Every hour of every day of every year, volunteers are in action in our communities performing a range of vital functions and without them the county would grind to a halt. It is important that we take time to recognise their achievements and say thank you."
There are 12 categories in which people can be nominated.
They are young volunteer, vulnerable adult volunteer, personal development volunteer, children & schools volunteer, volunteer driver, volunteer supporting elders, health volunteer, community volunteer, environmental volunteer, time bank volunteer, community safety volunteer and cultural volunteer.
There is also an award for the organisation that has been outstanding in supporting its volunteers.
If you know someone who volunteers who you think deserves recognition for what they do, you can nominate them for an award in one of the above categories.
A winner from each category will be chosen and receive a prize and an overall Volunteer of the Year award will also be presented.
You can nominate online, download a nomination pack from www.volunteercornwall.org.uk/ccv or pick up a pack from your local Volunteer Centre. Nominations should be sent to Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering, Acorn House, Heron Way, Truro, TR1 2XN
