Long serving Pendeen boss explains reasons for standing down

Pendeen Rovers boss Andre Peters has broken his silence and explained the reasons behind his decision to step down after 17 years in charge at Borlase Park. Peters announced he would be standing aside at the end of the season back in March, in the hope it would allow club officials plenty of time to identify a successor. However, it's understood the search for a replacement remains ongoing. The affable Rovers boss told The Cornishman that he found the demands of management were placing an increasing strain on him and his young family, and felt that due to 'personal reasons' the time was right to take a well earned break and offer somebody else the opportunity to lead the club's talented crop of young players. Pendeen finished in fifth place in the Jolly's Cornwall Combination League after ending the season with a 2-1 defeat at Falmouth Athletic in Peters' last game in charge last Thursday. He said: "I've had a great time and have some great memories, but I just feel that it's time for a break, take some time out to recharge the batteries and give someone else a go. "Hopefully we can find someone who has the ability to take the club forward and help this team onto the next level, it's a great little job for someone and I truly believe that we're very close to achieving something here."
