FIVE people have been rescued after being cut off by the tide at Carlyon Bay, near St Austell.
The group, believed to be holidaymakers, got in to difficulty at around 4.10pm today.
A member of the group called the coastguard when they realised the rising tide had them trapped away from the main beach.
The Fowey inshore lifeboat and St Austell coastguard rescue team both arrived at the scene a short time later and transported the stricken group to nearby Charlestown Harbour.
No one was injured but coastguard crews did issue tide and safety advice.
