The waters of Falmouth will come alive this month as classic boats of all shapes, sizes and types add a historic touch with a classic boat parade showcasing the new-look Falmouth Classics regatta.
A whole range of historic boats are expected to take part in the parade which is free to enter on June 15.
Crews are being encouraged to dress in period costume appropriate to the time their boat was first launched.
While it is expected that most vessels taking part will be sailing boats owners of classic power-driven vessels will also be welcomed.
The organisers hope that steam-propelled boats and rowing craft will also take part.
"The parade is an opportunity for owners of classic boats to show off their craft and crews are encouraged to wear appropriate period costume," explained Roger Hollingsworth, chairman of the Falmouth Classics organising committee.
"There is a great sense of heritage and showmanship with classic boats that you don't get with modern, highly competitive sailing classes. This makes the parade of sail an important part of the event as it showcases the boats taking part and offers everyone the chance to see them in their finery – and applaud loudly.
"The regatta has been months in planning and we're now very excited to see Falmouth Classics take this new step towards fulfilling the potential we know it has. Our grateful thanks go to Falmouth Town Council and our generous sponsors, who have funded this unique event."
A saluting boat carrying dignitaries in full ceremonial dress will be stationed off Falmouth's Events Square from 10.30am on Saturday June 15.
The event is part of the wider Falmouth Classics regatta, which returns this year with a "bigger and better" format, thanks to funding from Falmouth Town Council and a host of sponsors.
The parade of sail has been organised by the committee responsible for Falmouth Classics, the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club's events company, following months of planning.
