A "distraught man" has been taken into the care of police after he was found sitting on a footpath, near rocks, between Swanpool and Gyllyngvase beaches in Falmouth.
The man had been reported missing in the early hours of the morning.
Police launched a search and rescue mission at around 1.30am and drafted in the land-based Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team to assist.
Six members of the Coastguard searched the area between Swanpool and Gyllyngvase before the man was found uninjured and taken into police care.
A spokesperson from Falmouth Coastguard said: "The man seemed distraught and upset when he was found. We believe he had made his own way there and he was sat close to the rocks on a footpath between the two beaches.
"Six members from the Coastguard drove around searching for him.
"A lifeboat was launched, but the crew was stood down moments after it had done so."
