A German production crew descended on Truro today to film a new feature movie based on a novel by a Cornish author.
The two dozen film crew dashed between locations all across the city to shoot scenes for the movie 'Indian Bride' which is based on a romantic novel penned by Rosamunde Pilcher.
When finished, the movie will be a 90-minute feature film made specifically for prime time German TV, beaming to over nine million viewers.
Collien Ulmen-Fernandes, a model voted by the German edition of Maxim magazine as woman of the year 2006, stars in the movie as the Indian Bride alongside actor Simon Davies.
Location manager Joe Man commented: "It is one of a string of TV films based on Pilcher's romantic novels.
"The crew filmed scenes from the movie at locations in Truro including City Hall and Truro College.
"It's a German language movie and they are do very well on the TV ratings.
"The novel has this chocolate box feel to it and locations in Cornwall really capture that."
The production crew worked to transform Millers Commercial, on Prince's Street, into an authentic Indian bank called Sharma, for the purpose of the movie.
Kate Newell from Truro's Tourist Information Centre (TIC) said the film crew helped generate footfall through the city centre: "Everyone's stopping to look at what is going on. We've had a lot more people pop into the TIC and browse around because they're interested in what's happening. It's definitely a draw for the city centre."
To date over 70 films based on Pilcher's work have been made in the Cornish countryside. The movies are made using well-known German casts making them one of the most popular and long-lasting film series in German television history.
