A PENSIONER has died following a two car crash near Newquay.
The 77 year old woman was a passenger in a silver Nissan Almera being driven by a 78 year old man, both from Truro, when it was in collision with a green Peugeot 307 at around 8.15pm last night on the A3058 at Summercourt.
The Peugeot was being driven by a 34 year old woman from St Columb.
"As a result of the collision all parties were taken to Treliske Hospital for treatment," said a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police.
"In the early hours of this morning, Police were informed that the 77 year old female passenger of the Nissan had died."
A section of the A3058 was later closed for around three hours for officers to examine the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles remain in hospital with serious injuries and next of kin have been informed.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collision and officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
