A protest calling for Collin Brewer, the Cornwall Council member who said disabled children "should be put down", went ahead in Wadebridge today.
The march began at around 11am, with approximately 50 people taking part on the walk from Goldsworthy Way to the council offices in the town.
Mr Brewer had intially resigned his seat but was voted back in last month.
Organiser James Ball, of Camborne, said that people were feeling positive.
"Everyone is in high spirits and raring to get to get going and get the message across to the council," he said.
"Many people want to demonstrate their feelings towards the fact that someone who has such views should never hold a position in public office".
Mr Ball said that the prostests will continue until the controversial member steps down.
"The only apology we are going to accept is his resignation," said Mr Ball.
After his re-election, Mr Brewer faced further demonstrations after comments emerged in which he compared disabled children to deformed lambs.
Both Devon and Cornwall Police and Cornwall Council are investigating Mr Brewer's comments.
The new leader of Cornwall Council, John Pollard, believed Mr Brewer's position was “untenable".
Mr Ball noted that he was thankful for the support of the police in allowing the protest to go ahead.
He added: “We ask everyone attending to respect that and thank the Parent Carer Council and Disability Cornwall for their support with our mission".
