TELEVISION spy star Hermione Norris tracked down a different target in Charlestown when she took part in a celebrity antique show.

The BBC One Spooks actress, who also played Karen Marsden in the comedy drama Cold Feet, and comedian John Thomson, who also starred in the ITV series, were being filmed in the pretty fishing port on Thursday.

The actors were paired up with antique experts Mark Stacey and Catherine Southon for BBC Two's Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, which sees two teams go head-to-head scouring the UK to buy antiques and make the biggest profit for charity.

The programme was filmed at the Sail Loft Emporium, which opened earlier this year in the upstairs of a gunpowder munitions site.

Mick Blakey, who also has a gallery Cscape Art downstairs which he runs with his wife Sarah, as well as the Craft Kiln on the same site, said the actors and crew drew in quite a crowd. They had been expecting only one team to film at the antiques emporium and so were delighted when the call came to say both teams of celebrities and experts would be filming, he said.

"It was a really good day. They started at about 2pm and finished about 8pm. They were here quite a while and I think they really liked the place," said Mr Blakey.

John Thomson was paired with Catherine Southon.

Mr Blakey added: "They were a really good double act. John Thomson was hilarious and he stayed for ages in the emporium checking out the different products and haggling with me over the prices."

The site's traders and the public were keen to see filming take place and with the sun out the visitors even took time to enjoy an ice cream.

"It did create a bit of a buzz. The cameras came out and the requests for photos with people were made. It's just the sort of thing we want," he added. The programme is due to be screened in the autumn.
