A WOMAN who has become a campaigner for disability rights after having her leg amputated is seriously ill in hospital. Leanne Grose, from Truro, is in Royal Cornwall Hospital today after being admitted with "severe pain". At first it was thought she was suffering from appendicitis but after a week in hospital medical staff have been working to ease her pain. A note on her Facebook page stated that she had undergone an operation this week to insert a midline due to problems with her veins. The note also stated that she had been heavily sedated while in hospital and that her family had been visiting regularly. Leanne, who has a young daughter, has been hailed as an inspiration to many disabled people after she wrote a book, filmed a fitness DVD and launched a media career despite her problems with illness and her amputation. Dozens of people had posted messages of support to her on Facebook including radio DJ and former children's TV presenter Toby Anstis who wrote: "Sending loads of love to you Leanne, and your family. x"
