Truro Police station will be demolished to make way for retirement apartments if new plans go ahead.
Churchill Retirement has announced plans to build more than 50 apartments at the Trafalgar roundabout site.
The West Briton revealed plans in December for the police in Truro to relocate to Castle House at the back of Truro Crown Court.
Devon and Cornwall Police did not respond to enquiries regarding the sale price of the station.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police previously said: "The current Truro Police Station is one of our most inefficient buildings in terms of space utilisation and energy consumption."
The police said it would have cost about £2 million in refurbishment costs over the next ten years to keep the existing station going without any significant improvements.
Churchill Retirement Living is holding a public exhibition to show the proposals at the Alverton on Tregolls Road at 5pm on July 3.
Planning Issues Ltd, which is handling the planning application for Churchill, said: "We aim to produce a high quality design which relates sensitively to the adjacent buildings and also respect the natural environment.
"The design will provide a pleasant and safe environment for the prospective residents as well as making a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the local area."
