THE FIRST ever Time Bank Week is being launched today.
Timebanks are networks that aims to connect people in a neighbourhood through exchanging their skills.
The initiative by Volunteer Cornwall runs until Saturday, June 29.
"You do something for someone, such as gardening or DIY and you get help back in whatever form you need from cake baking and dog walking to Spanish lessons or IT tuition," said co-ordinator Penny Steventon.
"The events are a chance for people to find out about and sign up to their local time banks."
On Wednesday, time bank members will be painting the Volunteer Cornwall office in Municipal Building in the centre of Truro.
There will be display stands and tables with cakes, plants and activities, 10.30am-2.30pm.
On Thursday, June 27, there are two events going on in Newquay and St Austell.
Under a gazebo in Aylmer Square, St Austell, members will provide taster activities such as learning to sew, make cards and basic DIY skills, 10am-2pm.
Meanwhile, the Newquay Centre will host a Mix and Match coffee and cake day.
Ms Steventon added: "All events are completely free and people can come along with no obligation to sign up although we hope they will be inspired by what they see and hear."
There are seven time banks in Cornwall in Hayle, Pool, Truro, Newquay, St Austell Bodmin and Liskeard with others planned. To find out more visit www.volunteercornwall.org.uk or call Ms Steventon on 01579 344818.
