He contacted the Wave Project to offer his services and will now join stars from UK surfing, including former English champion Hannah Harding and UK champion Russell Winter, at the event on July 6-7. Andy, who is a keen surfer, said: "When I read about the Wave Project on Twitter I knew it was something I had to be involved in. I am passionate about surfing, and have seen a similar event that takes place in LA. I can't wait to get in the water and help out, there's nothing better than supporting great causes" Funded by the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All programme, the event will also offer free surf taster sessions for people with disabilities. Wave Project chief executive Joe Taylor said: "It is amazing the Andy Jordan has offered to come and support the competition. "The offer came out of the blue after Andy found out about the event on Twitter. We're really delighted that he has not only agreed to come along, but will be getting on a wetsuit and helping disabled children to surf." The competition has already attracted entrants from all over the UK and Europe, including Wales and the Netherlands. They will be judged by professional surfing judges on the UK Pro Surf Tour, supported by an autism expert.
