Mini-Junior rugby: Camborne youngsters celebrate achievements at presentation night

PLAYERS, coaches and relatives celebrated the achievements of Camborne RFC Mini and Junior section during their presentation night.

The event, which included a buffet, took place at a packed clubhouse with around 100 players from all sections presented with awards.

Former Camborne RFC mini and junior player and Fijian international, Josh Matavesi, now with Premiership side Worcester Warriors, was there to present the awards.

He was assisted on the night by several Camborne first team players and club chairman Jason Mitchell. There were three '100 cap' awards made to Under 13 team-mates Daniel Whitehead, Matthew Hampton and Archie Harrold.

There were also 12 blazer badges awarded on the night for 50 caps and a total of 21 ties for 25 cap awards.

Outgoing chairman Barry Bawden summed up the season by mentioning the players' successes and progress, as well as those players making it into Cornwall county squads.

Recruitment

The mini junior committee are busy preparing for next season with a string of roadshows and visits planned to local junior schools in July to bolster player recruitment.

A number of new coaches have also joined the club in time for next season.

Pre-season training, for existing players starts, on August 18, with the registration day for new and existing players on September 8 at the club.
