Redruth School's Paddy Swan has become the first Cornish athlete to throw the discus more than 50 metres.
The Cornwall AC athlete was throwing at Abingdon in Oxfordshire in the Youth Development League match in the U17 age group.
He is a year young in this age group so there is still lots more to come.
The throw took him back to number one in the UK with this result.
At the match he beat the English athlete from Nottingham who was just above him in the national rankings and his throw of 50.42 sets him up really well for the All England Schools' Athletic Championships which take place this Friday and Saturday at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
His event, at 10am on Friday morning, takes place in the main arena for the first time since 1980.
Cornwall are taking a team of 19 athletes to the Championships with high hopes for several athletes of high placings.
