UPDATE 6.40pm: The Carkeel roundabout near Saltash is said to be reopened, following an accident.
The accident is believed to have involved two vehicles and an oil spillage.
A diversion is now in place but there is congestion to Weston Mill.
Queues of up to 45 minutes have been reported at the Torpoint Ferry on the Devonport side.
EARLIER 5.30pm: The A38 is now closed in both directions at Saltash, following an accident.
Previously only the Westbound carriageway was closed.
It is believed the accident involved two vechicles.
EARLIER 5.00pm: The A38 has been shut at Saltash following an accident between two vehicles, it has been reported.
It is understood the incident occurred at around 4.50pm today.
Traffic is said to be moving slow between Carkeel Roundabout and the B3271 junction while the situation is dealt with.
