Festive lights and lanterns will glow in one Cornish town this year after a generous cash boost of £2,000.
The Co-operative has pledged the money from The Co-operative's Community Fund coffers to help stage the Lights Before Christmas event at Liskeard, on December 1.
Members of The Co-operative's local area committee decided to make the donation to support the winter carnival.
The fund is a pot of money raised by member customers donating all or part of their annual dividend to good causes in the area.
Jennifer Foster, from the Liskeard Lights Up group behind the event, said: "We are delighted with this boost from The Co-operative as the festive lights event is a true community celebration, with children and adults making lanterns to help light the streets during the evening procession.
"The event is very well-received locally but costs are always a key consideration when planning for this, so the £2,000 boost has really helped us this year."
Julie Putman, manager of Liskeard's Britannia branch, which is part of The Co-operative Group, said: "Because our members own the business, they get a share in any of the profits we make.
"The Community Fund is a scheme we're very proud of."
