Cornwall has been named as the ultimate all-round visitor destination in the British Travel Awards 2012, sweeping the board of top honours including best county, attraction, town and website.
It was the fourth consecutive year that Cornwall was crowned "best holiday county" while the enduring appeal of St Ives, in West Cornwall, saw it scoop "best coastal town" for the third time.
The Eden Project, near St Austell, took gold for "best leisure attraction" for the second year running beating the likes of Legoland Windsor and Madame Tussauds in London.
Malcolm Bell, head of VisitCornwall, said: "As a clear winner, no other destination rivalled Cornwall's enviable success which shows a unique diversity and unwavering quality across the industry.
"Cornwall excels in partnership working and this impressive feat is a collective effort which reflects on the whole industry. Congratulations to Cornish tourism." The roll of honour also included the county's website, www.visit cornwall.com, which earned the title of best visitor guide website, while the bronze trophy for best heritage attraction went to the Minack Theatre.
Fal River also took bronze for best UK coastal town while Parkdean Holidays, which has eight holiday parks in Cornwall, claimed silver for best UK holiday park operator.
Ian Williams, operations director at the Eden Project, said: "We are really proud and humbled to have won best UK leisure attraction for two consecutive years.
"In the face of stiff competition, and in a very challenging economic climate, it's simply fantastic to think the public loves us enough to vote for us. We thank them loads and look forward to welcoming them back in 2013."
The awards were announced at Thursday night's grand gala dinner in London that was attended by more than a thousand people from the tourism industry.
More than one million people voted in this years British Travel Awards which boast more than 70 categories and span every type of holiday experience, making them the largest awards programme in the UK.
Lorraine Barnes Burton, chief executive of the British Travel Awards, said: "Cornwall is to be congratulated on winning the British Travel Award for best UK holiday county or region for the fourth year running.
"In addition, for the county to win a further three awards is a true consumer endorsement."
