A FAMILY are appealing for help after their beloved cat leapt into a builders' van at a neighbour's house and was driven miles away from his home.

Siamese cat Blue was last seen by Kieran Lloyd, his partner Samantha Northmore and their son Rylan, 2, at their Illogan Downs home on June 17.

The seven year-old pet, which the family rescued aged three months, got into the van and fled a few hours later when it stopped at Connor Downs six miles away.

Mr Lloyd, an advanced ambulance technician, said: "He is quite an outdoor cat, but he always comes to get his food and usually sleeps in the house at night, which is why we are so worried. He has never done anything like this before.

"He is a very friendly cat, but very noisy – a typical Siamese. He is loving and inquisitive and smart. "It sounds silly, but he really is a member of the family and we would give anything to have him back."

"Sam's mum is a nurse and we were given Blue after one of her patients died and her family didn't want him.

"When we got him and sent off for his breeder documents we found out that he was born on the day that Sam's dad died a few months earlier. So for her he is really important as he helped Sam deal with his death."

The family believe that Blue is either lost or hiding in the farmland between the builders yard and the house.

The do not think he has been catnapped.

Mr Lloyd said: "We have another rescue cat called Milly who is almost blind and we think she has brain damage. Blue looks after her and protects her from other cats on the estate and the two of them often curl up together and sleep in the same basket.

"Rylan is also missing him and every time we call Milly in for food he calls for Blue and when he sees Milly outside he thinks it is Blue. It's hard to explain to him that they are two different cats."

Mr Lloyd and Miss Northmore have spent hours trawling the Connor Downs area to find the cat.

"We have been amazed at how kind people have been helping us find Blue, especially the people of Connor downs, and in particular Chris Lello at Chris Lello Plant Hire, and the Hosking family of Trevarnon Farm.

"We just want him home now so if anyone has any information or sightings please can they call us," Mr Lloyd added.

Anyone with information about Blue can call Kieran Lloyd and Samantha Northmore on 01209 842 548.
