SALES from the autobiography of a former criminal who once worked for the notorious Kray twins are being donated to a national armed forces charity.
Money from each sale of A Fighter All The Way, the real story of the late Redruth businessman John Rogers, are being donated to Help for Heroes to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his business, JR Flat Roofing.
Mr Rogers, who died in September after a long illness, laid claim to several vocations including a spell as a safe blower with London's famous Kray twins and time in the Army and Mercahnt Navy.
With the help of his daughter, Marion Rogers, the well-known businessman immortalised his unusual life by publishing his autobiography in 2013.
Now, three decades after he left his life of crime behind him, Ms Rogers and her brothers Nick and Phil, who run the family business, decided to offer up donations to mark JR Flat Roofing's anniversary.
Ms Rogers said: "The book was a pleasure to work on with my dad, and I hope a pleasure to read.
"He has some audacious stories which he tells in an unabashed way, but also opens up about his sadder times - especially feeling unwanted as a child.
"Dad spent time as a paratrooper in his youth, which makes it fitting that this year sales will support Help for Heroes - we're thrilled that his legacy will continue in this way."
Abandoned by his mother at less than a year old, the book describes Mr Rogers' decent in to crime and his time in Wandsworth Prison, London.
It also charts the happier times and describes how he turned his life around and moved to Cornwall to start his company and a family.
His trip to Brazil to meet the legendary train robber Ronnie Biggs in 1990 is also touched upon.
Mr Rodgers wrote in the book: "I am proud of what I have achieved in this life, after the world and his wife had seemed to be against me."
A Fighter All The Way is available to download on Amazon for £1.93 and 10p from each copy sold this year will be donated to Help For Heroes.
