Gavin Cattle has reclaimed the Cornish Pirates' captaincy in time for tomorrow's Championship home game against Rotherham Titans at Penzance's Mennaye Field.

The Welsh scrum-half returned to action in last weekend's draw at Moseley, after a month out of action through injury, and takes the reins from Laurie McGlone, who has stood in well in his absence. The New Zealander returns to the role of pack leader.

With no dual-registered players available due to this weekend's LV= Cup programme and with leading try-scorer Matt Evans on international duty with Canada, the Pirates have had to shuffle their backs.

Wes Davies is picked at full-back in place of Jack Nowell, Junior Fatialofa is back in at centre after missing the trip to the West Midlands through injury, while Ben Mercer is selected on the left wing in place of Evans.

In the pack, the only change is at tight-head. Ben Prescott comes in for Alan Paver to tackle one of his former clubs.

Rotherham have a long list of injuries to contend with. One of the men missing the trip to Cornwall is former Cornish All Blacks and Mounts Bay centre Pale Nonu.

Lee Blackett is in charge of the Titans as their acting head coach, with a replacement for departed boss Andre Bester set to be named early next week.

Blackett admitted: "No one expects us to win the game other than ourselves. We've seen them on video and we've seen where we can break them down. I'm fully confident the boys can do that."

Cornish Pirates: Davies; Pointer, Riley, Fatialofa, Mercer; Penberthy, Cattle (capt); Storer, Elloway, Prescott; Lyons, Johnson; Maidment, Burgess, McGlone. Replacements: Paver, Semmens, Joyce, Barry, Kessell, Hallett, Cheeseman.
