A DEDICATED volunteer for a Hayle charity has stepped down from her position as treasurer after 12 years.
June Allen, who volunteered in the position for Hayle Youth Project (HYP), will remain as a trustee and continue to play an active role on the management committee.
Project manager Jacqueline Hart said everyone wanted to thank June for her hard work.
She was presented with a bouquet of flowers and Marks & Spencer gift card as recognition for her dedication and commitment over the years.
Ms Hart said: "June also got involved with helping St Julia's (hospice) in the late Eighties and when she retired from accountancy in 1991 she immediately got involved with the Hayle Support Group for St Julia's Hospice.
"June's late husband Barry also got involved helping with the shop's fitting on a voluntary basis, and both June and Barry went on to help a team of volunteers raise the funds needed to build the new St Julia's Hospice which opened in 1999."
Although she has recently been unwell, Mrs Allen has continued to raise funds for the hospice as well as helping with other causes in the community.
She was named Hayle female citizen of the year in 2009 in recognition of her voluntary work as St Elwyn's Church warden, treasurer of the Hayle Youth Project and chairman of St Julia's Hospice fundraising committee.
