The public are being invited to help count birds at the Penryn College campus on Saturday.
The college's Eco Club is running The Big School Bird Watch in association with the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds).
It is also a chance for the club to raise awareness of the sustainability work it does.
Elizabeth Westhead, teacher and sustainability coordinator, who helped organise the event said: "Following their recent success selling home-made willow wreaths at the Christmas Fair in December, eco-leaders are keen to follow on with a series of free events that connect our sustainability work with the local community.
"We hope that by organising this event, we can encourage local families and other members of the public to reconnect with nature and help us to take the measure of the health of our school environment."
The free event, aimed at families, will run from 1pm to 3pm, meeting at the amphitheatre at the front of the school.
Bird feeders have been put up around the school to attract the birds and identification sheets will be made available on the day, so experience is not essential. .
