A trial expansion of the minor x-ray service in Cornwall began today in a bid to ease pressure on the Duchy's main emergency department in Truro.
Patients seeking an x-ray for minor injury were able to do so at St Austell Community Hospital, as well as Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske.
It was hoped that the expansion would reduce waiting times and therefore patients would be able to get treated more quickly.
The service will be available tomorrow at Newquay Community Hospital from 1pm-5pm and then at the same time on Saturday April 20 at Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital.
Consultant Dr Andy Virr said: "If minor injury patients seek medical attention at one of the minor injury units with x-ray cover, patients at both minor injuries and the emergency eepartment will have less waiting time and be able to get treated more quickly."
