Redruth end losing run and Camborne stay on course for promotion play-off

Redruth ended a run of five successive National 2 South defeats with a 38-22 home win over Southend.

The Reds ran in six tries, with the visitors replying with four, in a high scoring encounter at a wet and windy Recreation  Ground before a crowd of 624.

There were two tries  each for skipper Chris Fuca and full-back Tom Notman ,with the Reds also being awarded a penalty try and Neal Turner getting  a touch down. Paul Thirlby landed four conversions.

But the Cornish All Blacks lost 10-0 at Canterbury.

In Tribute South West Division One West, Camborne need just to beat visiting Oldfield Old Boys  at the Recreation Ground next Saturday in their final  home game, to be assured of a promotion play-off on April 27, following their 51-0 victory at Paignton Saxons today.
Old Redcliffians wrapped up top spot with a 37-6 victory at Thornbury.

The Cherry and Whites will be hot favourites to win against the struggling Old Boys, having won all 12 league games this season at the Rec, where they have been unbeaten in the league for 14 months.

In the same division Wadebridge Camels won 22-16 at bottom club North Dorset.

Having already clinched the Western Counties West title, St Austell ended their home campaign with a  rousing 38-5 win at Tregorrick Park over Exeter Saracens.

Penryn beat Honiton 34-3, but Truro lost 20-3 at home to high-flying Bideford.
