A schoolboy from Fowey who harbours dreams of forging a career in the sport of golf has made great strides after being capped by the county.
Although he still has a fairway to go on the road to the top, Danny Sweet, 13, and a student at Fowey Community College, has been selected to play for the Under-14's Cornwall team.
A member of Carlyon Bay Golf Club, Danny is already the youngest player on the Carlyon Bay team where the rest of the players are all 16 and over, and he was also recently awarded the President's Shield at his golf club's Captain's Day.
Golf is a sport that has played a big part in Danny's life since an early age.
"I've been playing golf since I was around six years old," he said, "It got to a point where football and golf events were clashing, so I had to choose which one I would pursue, and I chose golf.
"I enjoy it because it's both an individual and a team sport."
Danny and his teammates meet weekly for a round of golf, playing either friendlies or trophy matches, and he hopes that all the practice might one day pay off as he hopes to pursue a high level of golf after college, potentially in the United States of America.
For now though, he's enjoying being part of a local academy and receiving the expert tuition which has enabled him to be selected to play for Cornwall at such a young age.
He gets his inspiration by watching the experts on TV.
"I admire Ian Poulter and Adam Scott for the way they carry themselves both on and off the course. They are really professional," said Danny.
