THE Cornish Rebels sent a clear message to the South West Mens League with a convincing 80-6 victory in their historic first game in the league against Exeter Centurions on Saturday.
The Rebels took both points and recorded a clinical victory against a Centurions team who will find little consolation in their solitary converted try.
They racked up an 80-point master class and were led to victory by player-coach Jonny Platt who, along with Darren Pellow, racked up a hat-trick on their first outings in black and gold.
Platt shared kicking duties with Paul Saberton who also ran in two tries as did Matt Williams, Ethan Pattison and Royal Navy prop Kye Beasley.
The Rebels will take great encouragement from their debut victory and go into their first home fixture against Devon Sharks in two weeks firmly on the front foot.
