THE Mennaye Field will this Sunday host the culmination of Cornish Pirates prop Alan Paver`s testimonial season as his Invitational XV take on a Cornwall County Championship XV (2.30pm).
Rotherham-born Paver joined the Pirates in 2002 from Plymouth Albion and has to date made 300 appearances for the club. A bicep injury ruled him out of the latter part of last season`s Championship action but following a busy testimonial season he has assembled a strong squad to take on, what the organisers hope, will be the Cornwall squad which contested the Bill Beaumont Cup final at Twickenham last Sunday.
Whilst exact details of the opponents for the day are being finalised this week Paver`s team includes some notable former Pirates favourites including former skipper Tim Cowley, ex-Wasps prop Nick Adams, Tongan hooker Vili Ma`asi, and lock Ian Nimmo who left the club for Newport Gwent Dragons a year ago.
