A weekend chock full of seafood, real ale, live music, Cornish hospitality and pirates is coming to Fowey later this month as Mussel Fest makes a welcome return.
The seafood celebration will be taking place in town over three days from Friday, June 21, and promises to be a belly busting experience for visitors with a tantalising choice of the finest fare cooked up by a host of talented guest chefs and festival regulars.
To wash down the freshly cooked mussels there will be a selection of fine real ales on offer along the Festival Beer Trail that takes in charming pubs in Fowey, Polruan and Bodinnick, or, for a sip of the fancier things in life, Sam's Camper Van will be in town tempting people with a variety of cocktails.
The festival gets under way on the Town Quay on the evening of June 21. Live music from Citizen Smith will satisfy the dancers while Sam's cocktails satisfy the thirst.
Over Saturday and Sunday a range of guest chefs, including, TV's, James Strawbridge, Rico from the Grosvenor Hotel in Torquay, and Brett Camborne Paynter, will be demonstrating the art of delivering exotic seafood dishes alongside chefs from the many Fowey restaurants and hotels.
The event will also be graced by the presence of the popular Pirates of St Piran who will be entertaining visitors, as will local theatre group, Troy Players, with their performance of a Seafood Sketch.
For three days the Town Quay will be swimming under the aromas of hot seafood, scallops, mussels, bouillabaisse and paella, in one of Fowey's most anticipated events.
