Cornish Rebels 108 Exeter Centurions 20 The Cornish Rebels maintained their grip on the top of the South West League as they made it five wins out of five with a 19-try demolition of Exeter Centurions, writes Dick Straughan. The result was even sweeter for the Cornish side as the fixture doubled as the South West Cup semi-final and the Rebels will now play Devon Sharks in next month`s final after this win over the cup holders. The Rebels took the lead inside two minutes through Johnny Platt and further tries followed in quick succession from Alex Ducker and Sam Bristow. Full-back Darren Pellow added a fourth try after 15 minutes and the game was effectively over as the Rebels led 22-0. Prop Ethan Pattison added a fifth before the Centurions snatched a score back through Alex Forde and although the Rebels spurned three more good scoring chances they regrouped running in five more tries before half-time to make it 56-6. The second half was barely 46 seconds old when Pellow resumed the try-fest for the Rebels and they refused to relent even when the Centurions showed some real spirit with three more scores of their own inside fifteen minutes through Banks and a brace from Powell. Loose Forward Ashley Lawton maintained his try a game record for the Rebels this season and Alex Ducker scored the pick of the day`s tries as he claimed an Exeter kick-off and raced the length of the field for his hat-trick touchdown.
